The Policing and Community Safety Authority welcomed community leaders from the northwest to Carrick-on-Shannon for the first in-person consultation on the Policing Priorities 2026-28.

The event at the Landmark Hotel marked an important day in the public engagement process and reaffirmed the value of hearing directly from communities.

The perspectives shared were thoughtful and reflective of the day-to-day realities people experience.

From community safety, drugs, and gender-based violence to road safety and garda visibility, each contribution added value to the conversation.

We look forward to the next in-person consultation in Clonmel on Wednesday 14 May, where we will engage with communities from the south.

These consultations will continue to facilitate meaningful discussions and hear from a wide range of voices.

We encourage you to share your views through our online consultation. It remains open until 8 June and only takes a few moments: https://pcsa.prioritysimulator.com/.

Every response helps inform a better, more inclusive approach to policing services in Ireland.

PCSA Chief Executive Helen Hall has spoken in more detail about this consultation process and the PCSA’s roles and functions in a series of media interviews.

The PCSA would like to thank everyone who took the time to engage in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Your input is already shaping the future of policing priorities, and we look forward to hearing more voices across the country in the weeks ahead.
